A fantastic idea of ​​a theater on an uninhabited island

The Ulysses theater was founded by the actor and director Rade Šerbedžija and the writer Borislav Vujčić. It was inaugurated in 2001 by the renowned British film and stage actress Vanessa Redgrave at the benefit concert with the Mostar Sinfonietta.

The first production was Shakespeares King Lear directed by Lenka Udovički with Rade Šerbedžija in the role of the same name. A small production team under the direction of Tatjana Aćimović went on a journey to give shape a fantastic idea of ​​a theater on an uninhabited island, without guessing that this production will be achieved cult status and year after year after what is going on began as an experiment for an annual summer festival with the increasing number of productions and cultural events.

Some places within the Austro-Hungarian coastal fortress Fort Minor on the island of Mali Brijun were used as a natural stage setting. For over a decade, the audience from all over the world has been captivating and gathering artists from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Great Britain, the USA and Georgia.
