Little by little the small yet Cosmopolitan city of Palma has become one of the most attractive and well-known holiday destination in Europe. Mallorca is, without a doubt, the idyllic choice for thousands of visitors from all over the world looking to spend a couple lovely days enjoying turquoise water and white sand, romantic sunsets, delicious restaurants and beach bars to enjoy Majorcan gastronomy and lively cocktail bars to spend some fun nights. But one of the most popular and loveliest things to do when visiting Mallorca is to take a walk through the quirky streets of Palma’s old town to get lost in its history, culture and tradition.
BO Hotel is located right in the very heart of this lively city, in the bohemain neighborhood of La Lonja in Palma’s old town. We would like to invite you to get lost in these streets, discovering every corner, landmarks and places we think are a must-visit during your stay at our hotel.
- Palma’s Cathedral: La Seu is the most emblematic landmark of our city. This breathtaking cathedral welcomes all visitors arriving by sea as it is located right at Palma’s bay. Built in gothic style this cathedral dates back from 1229 after the conquer of Jaime I. From BO Hotel we invite you to take a walk through La Lonja, stoppin by Parc de la Mar up to the Cathedral. We strongly recommend that you take a guided tour or go visit it inside where you will find yourself amazed by the light coming through its 61 windows and the spectacular rose window. Its opening hours from Monday to Friday from 10.00h onwards. Closing times depend on the time of the year. On Saturdays you can visit the Cathedral from 10h to 14.15h.
- Parc de la Mar: Next to the Cathedral of Palma you’ll find Parc de la Mar, built in the ’70s. From this pretty urban park of approximately nine hectares, visitors can enjoy incredible views of the Cathedral of Palma, La Almudaina, the city bay and the salt water lake located in the center of the park which symbolizes the sea.
- Plaza Cort: This historic square constitutes the nerve center of the city of Palma. You will immediately recognize Plaza Cort, because in its center you will see the famous and ancient olive tree. This tree comes from a historic estate located in Pollensa and has become one of the most visited places by many tourists who want to immortalize the moment next to the majestic olive tree. Plaza Cort also houses the Town Hall of the city and the Palau del Consell de Mallorca. Do not hesitate to have a coffee at one of the coffee shops on Plaza Cort to soak up the lively city atmosphere.
- Calle de Sant Miquel: A few minutes away from Plaza Cort you will find one of the busiest pedestrian streets in the historical center of Palma. It owes its name to the church of San Miquel, located on the same street which you can also visit while walking fown this beautiful area. Take some time to stroll down San Miguel, because you will find numerous shops where you can buy gifts and articles of all kinds.
